Care for your Candle

  • Allow the pool of melted wax to reach the edges of the containers. Soy wax requires a "memory burn"in order to prevent wax build up on the edges and tunneling.

  • Remember to keep your candle free of any foreign materials including matches and wick clippings.

  • Keep your flame away from drafts or fans, as the moving air can alter the steady burn.

  • Try not to burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. We recommend you give your candle an hour to fill a room and that you extinguish it when the melt pool approaches 1/4" in depth. 

  • Never leave your candle burning unattended or on an uneven surface.

  • Remember the tin will be hot after burning! If you're on the go, extinguish the candle with enough time for the wax to cool and solidify. 

  • For safety, our warning labels recommend a wick length maintained at 1/4". 

Troubleshooting

Sometimes things go wrong. We strive to provide the best quality performance, but here are some tips on fixing possible problems:

  • Wick trimmed to short: DO NOT trim your wick before your first burn. We cut them to provide an optimal first burn.

  • Flame too low, won't stay lit: If your flame is very low or your wick won't stay lit, your wick might be too short. Simply pour out some of the already melted wax and allow the flame to catch up a bit.

  • Slight tunneling: If you're not able to give the flame enough time to melt the wax all the way to the edges, don't worry! It should be able to make up for it as it burns. You can gently encourage the melt pool by pouring out a small amount of the melted wax into a trashcan. This gives the wicks more room to catch up.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you do have international shipping?

    • We do! ​We ship internationally using USPS First Class postage. Orders usually arrive 1-3 weeks after order depending on distance from Los Angeles, California. All shipping prices are calculated based on country.

    • With international shipping, customers are sometimes charged additional custom fees upon reception. Unfortunately we can not be held responsible for this additional costs and they must be paid by the customer.

  • How long is shipping? 

    • We usually process your order 1-2 days after it is placed and your products are delivered to you within 3-5 days. International Shipping times vary greatly. 

  • When will you restock a product?​

    • We try to keep all of our scents in stock, but when we do run out it's ususally about a week or two before more can be added to the store. Candles need time to cure so they can give the best scent!​

    • Our sample packs are restocked in small batched every Monday around 12pm PST.

  • How long do they burn for?

    • Our 6oz candles have an estimated burn time of approximately 30-35 hours.

    • Our 16oz candles have an estimated burn time of approximately 75 hours.

    • Our sample candles are intended for one steady burn of about 4 hours. 

  • Are the candles safe for my pet?

    • The short answer- yes. As a reminder, always keep your flame out of reach of an animal and never leave your candle unattended.​ (See next question for further information)

  • Do your candles contain phthalates? 

    • We're happy to say that we avoid the use of phthalates or other harmful chemicals. The only candle in our line that contains pthalates is our Den of Thieves scent. In the event that you have allergies or sensitivities to certain scents, try a sample pack first!

  • I'm playing (insert game) can you recommend a scent for me?

    • We are working on compiling a huge list of games and their matching scents. Until then, it's up to you! Each fragrance has a certain level of flexibility to it. Noses interpret scents so differently! That's part of the beauty of fragrance.​

  • Are you candles Vegan?

    • They are! There is also no animal testing involved in the candlemaking process​

  • I want to do a custom fragrance for my game. Can you help?

    • Email info@cantripcandles.com to speak to us directly ​about this. We're still getting started on our fragrance releases, and we may have a perfect fit coming! 

  • Do your candles fill a room? 

    • Yes! We specifically designed our candles to have scents that will fill your room with an immersive scent. Larger rooms or rooms with high vaulted ceilings may need a bit more or a burn time to fill (Ususally an hour and a half.) Keep in mind that open windows or drafts can help spread or limit a candles fragrance throw.

Sales & Returns

  • Returns are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. If you have found your product faulty or we have made an error, we will always do our best to help fix the issue.

  • Sales are often unannounced! You have a better chance of hearing about our sales by subscribing to our email list or following us on social media @cantripcandles

  • If you made a purchase previous to a newly announced sale, we will try to honor the sale before your product has shipped. If your order has shipped already, we may not be able to refund you the sale difference.

Warm Weather Shipping

When ordering during warmer temperatures of 85F or higher, we usually ship on Monday - Wednesday to avoid your candles sitting in a hot sorting room/truck over the weekend. In addition, please consider the following suggestions. 

 

  • If you won't be home for your delivery, you can request for your package to be held at a nearby post office. To do so, go to your local post office and inform the clerk that you are expecting a package and would like it held for you instead of delivery. You could also intercept a package through USPS's site and using the tracking number we send to you.

  • Check your weekly forecast during warmer months. If the weekly temperature is around 90F average, there is a chance your candle will melt if delivered to an outdoor location (mailbox or front porch). Instead, have your order mailed to an air conditioned office or workspace.

  • We will always try to replace any melted orders, but sometimes we simply don't have the stock to replace it. We urge you to follow these suggestions.
